I've Been Crafty!

Well, I used some of my summer break to play around on Pinterest and do some of the projects that I've seen.  Today, I'm going to show you the magnetic bulletin board that I made--copied directly from Pinterest, but with my own little twist.

I actually made two of them.  For each of them, I purchased an open wood frame at Hobby Lobby (the week that they were 50% off).  Meghan's, which was 12 x 12, was plain wood and we painted it purple (her choice).  I let her choose a piece of scrapbook paper (that was also 50% off).    Ron cut a piece of sheet metal for me, but I asked him to shorten each side by 1/4 of an inch.    We used painters tape to attach the sheet metal to a piece of foam board that I also purchased at Hobby Lobby.  Once the sheet metal was secure, I taped the scrapbook paper to the foam board.

Once the paint was dried and the frame was assembled, we added glittery stickers (50% off at Michael's) along the outside of the frame.

Finally, we made our own magnets.  We purchased these pieces from the scrabooking section of the store.  Since I don't scrapbook myself, I don't know what they're called.  We also bought small magnets from Michael's.  These were not on sale, but they were only $5.99 for a package of 50.  Look at my next project to see what I did with the remaining magnets.

So, there you have it!  An inexpensive, yet FUN, activity that Meghan and I did together on a long, hot summer afternoon.
